Making digital choices for the whole family

With so many educational apps and gaming sites, finding the best ones for your child can feel overwhelming. On top of that, the digital world is constantly evolving! My go-to resource for navigating this ever-changing landscape is Common Sense Media. It’s a one-stop shop for expert reviews on apps, games, and more—plus, it offers fantastic parent guides on a wide range of digital topics. Whether you’re looking for age-appropriate recommendations or advice on screen time, you’ll find reliable guidance there.

Here are a few educational apps that I highly recommend. I am linking each to the review page on Common Sense Media:

  • Khan Academy Kids: An engaging and inviting app covering a wide range of concepts. Recommended for ages 3+.
  • Kahoot Numbers by Dragonbox: Introduces basic number concepts through interactive games. Recommended for ages 4+.
  • Marble Math: A fun way to practice various math skills. Recommended for ages 9+, but younger children can also benefit.
  • Toontastic: Encourages storytelling by letting kids choose scenes, characters, and story types. Recommended for ages 6+.
  • Starfall Learn to Read: Helps children reinforce vowel sounds through interactive mini-books. Recommended for ages 4+.
  • Scratch Jr: A playful introduction to block coding, allowing kids to create scenes and animations. Recommended for ages 5+.
