Leo Baeck Funds You can support The Leo Baeck Day School by supporting one of the following funds:
About the Leo Baeck Funds AlumniThe Alumni Fund supports Leo Baeck students, through curriculum enhancements and financial assistance. ArtsThe Arts Fund provides our students with enhanced opportunities in the Arts. For example, this year we saw the growth of the musical instrumentation program at both campuses and the enhanced professionalism of the Middle School plays which made the experience more meaningful for our students. AthleticsThe Athletics Fund supports our students with enhanced opportunities in Athletics, such as expanded participation in SSAF (Small School Athletics Foundation) activities, providing outside coaching expertise to support a broader range of athletic activities, as well as providing outside experts to support the Physical Education curriculum. All of these opportunities enrich the lives of our students. BuildingThe Building Fund is a funding initiative used for capital enhancements and improvements for both of our campuses. In the past, with the help of generous donors to this fund we have built a state of the art campus in Thornhill -- the Dan Family Campus, expanded to create a separate wing for our middle school at that campus -- and have continually upgraded and refurbished our southern campus as we prepare for the redevelopment of that site. Israel Links & Judaic ProgrammingA funding initiative that will allow for further development of our Israel programming especially our relationship with: the Reform kibbutzim, Lotan and Yahel, in the Eilat/Elot region in Israel, our twin schools, Maale Shacharut and Harei Eilat and with the Leo Baeck High School in Haifa's Lokei Institute. It will also include creative and innovative Judaic studies programming such as an Artist in Residence program in Judaic Arts. Jan Lapedus Curriculum EnhancementThe Jan Lapedus Curriculum Enhancement Fund is a special fund named in honour of Jan Lapedus, our former North Campus Principal. Jan gave 28 years of dedicated service to The Leo Baeck Day School as a teacher and Principal. This Fund will enable the school to explore new initiatives within and beyond our regular programming. LibraryThe Library Fund is a funding initiative that is used to purchase books and other resource materials for our school libraries (located at each of our campuses). It is also used to fund special library programs and projects for our students. SiddurThe Leo Baeck Siddur was created as the ideal tool for transmitting Jewish practice and meaning through the power of prayer. Produced with the help of community members and a team from The Leo Baeck Day School, our Siddur will be published in two volumes, first for Grades 5-8, which has been completed, and next for Grades 1-4 and will be gifted to each student. It is a beautiful, illustrated, bound Siddur that reflects the educational and religious beliefs taught to our children. We hope it will become a treasure for students and families alike in their lifelong quest for meaningful Jewish practice. Your support of the Siddur Fund will enable us to publish the Junior edition Siddur for grades 1-4. South Campus RenewalThe South Campus Renewal Fund is a funding initiative to be used for the redevelopment of our South Campus, an exciting new chapter in Leo Baeck's history. Click here to learn more about the South Campus Renewal campaign. TechnologyThe Technology Fund is a funding initiative that will allow the school to implement its technology plan over the next 3 years. The plan includes: purchasing SMART Boards for every classroom, SMART Tables for the early grades, upgrading present laptops and replenishing the "roaming labs" for students. Tuition Assistance FundThe Tuition Assistance Fund is a funding initiative that provides tuition assistance to families that require it, in order to provide them with the opportunity of having a Reform Jewish Day School education for their children. Zita Gardner Special InitiativesThe Zita Gardner Special Initiatives Fund is a special fund named in honour of our former Director, Zita Gardner. Under her 12 years of leadership, The Leo Baeck Day School emerged as a major force for liberal Jewish education, growing from 300 to 800 students at two campuses. This fund supports specific projects outside of operations -- new initiatives, capital improvements, curriculum development and review, scholarships and other special initiatives.
